OK guys and girls, Aaron finally tipped his hand...
he's John R... changed his moniker
you old timers here will know what I mean, John R used to always go on and on about the Kobe legal matter, like he "knew" something that only the people involved would know.
I always wondered what happened to that ol' crumudgen, a definite Kobe hater. but all this time, I thought Aaron was just a Derek hater.
by the way, the way Fish played against the Clips, I couldn't help but wonder how Aaron was taking this, after the game, both PJ and Kobe said Fish deserved the game ball, one of his better games so far I thought. and it goes to show you, he may have a few down games here and there, but Fish doesn't hang his head, (like Sasha needs to learn) he plays through it, what a seasoned vet would do. Fish will continue to show his value through this season and into the post season this year, and next year, we'll see him contribute from the bench as well. Fish will be a part of this org for a long time, as i could see him evolve into coaching, or management.

it's fun being a kobe fan, let alone a lakers fan here in the philippines. it's a lot like the experience of american fans and in some ways this tells me of how pervasive american culture and slowly how american thinking has won the filipino (which has its upsides and downsides).

the lakers and the mamba enjoy large "viewership" and get much love but those who do hate, hate with as much vigor and distaste. the spurs and celtics even get fans here because some just don't want the lakers to win. and kobe adds fuel to that fire. some love his smile and his intensity. some love to hate how he just kills the opposition. and although mj is still the king here, people are beginning to appreciate who rules the courts now (and no it is not lebron yet). you see it in the marketplace, the shops, the houses, the coverage (and i know there are a lot of lbj lovers behind the cameras)...it's showtime. still, mj's era of just dominating hoops and sports media here is in another class. i recall when the world stopped in the 98 finals. mj kinda was the uniter and the definition of greatness then. plus, not a lot of us followed with the net those times. i crave for the day the lakers and kobe get their due here...when the country stood still.

for now, lotsa fun, lotsa pride and we wear our purple and gold...and some mamba nike apparel with pride.

GO LAKERS!

@Kunal, I know what you mean, I also attended UCI that summer. I was so amazed that he was actually working out right next to me. Although the gym was full of people hearing kobe was working out in our gym during that summer no one dared interrupting him. Intense experience.

Crap I just realized we have Memphis's second round pick this year. So it would have been better for us if Allen Iverson had exerted his toxic effect for more than 3 games. A mid-2nd round pick isn't much use, but Mitch nabbed Turiaf and Luke in the 30s. It's very possible to get a role player for a particular niche, and Mitch is good at it.

I guess it's likely Buss sells the pick, or doesn't sign whoever's drafted. But I still think draft picks are a good way to fill out a high-priced roster, and get more upside than a Powell-type.
