In the latest Laker Film Room Podcast, Pete and I are joined by special guest and draft-prospect-knower-of-all-things (this is an official title) Cole Zwicker.
With the Lakers holding the 25th and 47th picks in Thursday’s draft, we zeroed in on players targeted to go in that range and Cole offered fantastic insight and perspective on each one — including several that recent mock drafts have being selected by teh Lakers.
From Mitchell Robinson to Kevin Huerter to De’Antony Melton, Zwicker gave us the skinny on each one, presenting pros and cons on each one and how they might fit in with this current Lakers group.
I found the discussions around Robinson and Melton particularly interesting as Zwicker noted both would likely be viewed through a different lens if they both were available to play this past college season. (Melton was ruled ineligible by the NCAA and Robinson withdrew from Western Kentucky before their season to focus solely on NBA draft preparation.)
After looking at that trio of prospects, Pete offered up several names to Zwicker in a “lightning” round of sorts, getting feedback on guys who project to go in the range the Lakers will be selecting between numbers 25 and 47.
Overall, this was an extremely informative discussion that truly gives Lakers fans a great feel for multiple players who could end up on the team next year.
Lastly, as many of you know, Pete will now be offering up some LFR pieces at The Athletic, please consider supporting him and all the great folks who are contributors there with a subscription. You can receive 40% off your first year’s subscription at this link.
