Laker Film Room: Alex Caruso on how he plays PG

October 14, 2017 by Pete Zayas

Alex Caruso’s Summer League performance was good enough to earn a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, and a strong preseason has him on the radar as the potential backup point guard. With Per 36 numbers of 6.8 points, a team-leading 7.7 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 3.1 steals, 55.0 TS%, and quality defense, he’s piqued the interested of fans, coaches, and bloggers alike.

I like Caruso more than Ennis. And I know I’m not alone.

I spoke with Caruso at Lakers’ practice on Thursday for the latest installment of Laker Film Room, where we discussed the reads that he makes in transition, how he navigates the pick and roll, his experience going up against NBA-caliber athletes, and how the Lakers defend screens.
