In this episode of the Laker Film Room Podcast, Pete and I discuss the return of Lonzo Ball and Brook Lopez and how the Lakers missed them while they out with injury.
First up was our discussion on Lonzo and how the offense has sputtered without him, specifically talking about some of the playmaking deficiencies his replacements have exhibited and how some of the reads are getting missed within the offense.
This led to a more expanded discussion about the type of offense the Lakers are running and whether they are too dependent on the individual talents of their players rather than playing more of a “system” that can be leveraged better and compensate for players being out.
We also discussed Lopez’s impact on defense and how we’ve now seen how some of things he does on that end of the floor are sorely missed. We also discussed his offensive value even though he wasn’t playing his best ball/his shots weren’t falling in the lead up to his injury.
Lastly, we also discussed the general slip in play we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks and whether the necessary buy-in defensively is still present with this group in the wake of their team meeting last week. Give the entire episode a listen below. We hope you enjoy it.
