I’m going to keep this short. Whenever the Lakers play the Celtics, the game matters. I don’t care if both teams are near the top of the league, I don’t care if the Lakers stink and the Celtics are a title contender. I don’t care if it’s the opposite. There is no game between these teams that does not matter.
Throw the records out and dismiss the advanced stats. This game is one that I care about and you should too.
There was a game earlier this year where the Celtics were playing the Clippers and there seemed to be some confusion about what team Lakers fans were rooting for. Some people thought that rooting for the Celtics was okay because the Clippers are “the real threat”. While I appreciate the sentiment, thinking that is wrong. There’s only one correct answer on who you want to win when the Celtics are playing and the answer is the other team.
I know there’s no confusion tonight. Not when these teams play. So, with Anthony Davis back and the Lakers coming off a very good road win over the Rockets on Saturday, here’s to keeping the momentum going in Boston tonight. I don’t ask for much, but today I’m asking for this. Beat the Celtics. Let’s go.
