Today is the big day. Storied franchises. Big name players. Everyone bbq’ing getting ready for this clash of the titans.
That’s right, the Magic and the Celtics face off today in a rematch of last year’s eastern conference finals. Personally, I can’t wait. Dwight, Jameer, Hedo, Arenas, Rondo, KG, Ray Allen, Pierce…just some great match ups in this one.
Oh yeah. There’s also a pretty big NFL game on today as the Steelers and Packers face off for the chance to be crowned champion of their league. Should be a good game, too. Both teams sport top notch defenses and quarterbacks that know how to extend a play and put some points up on the board.
Personally, I think the Packers win this one with a couple of big pass plays that beat the Steelers’ patented blitz scheme. But take that with a grain of salt as I picked the Colts in last year’s game vs. the Saints and we all know how that turned out. Anyways, enjoy the game (and the commercials) and let me know in the comments who you got and why.
On a side note, it was exactly one year ago today that I officially took over FB&G full time. I can’t believe it’s already been a year. Thanks much to all of you that continue to make this community so special and to all the contributors that put up such great, thought provoking content. This place would be nothing without all of you. We’ll be back focusing on hoops tomorrow but today enjoy the pigskin action on the grid iron.

For those of us who remember Andrew Bynum before his first knee surgery… Or heck… Even before his second knee surgery, is our big fella at 23 years old passed his prime?

Congrats Darius, you’ve done a great job following Kurt here and setting your own standards as well.
The more I watch Orlando the more I really think they should have kept Rashard Lewis instead of trading for Arenas. In playoff time if Howard gets in foul trouble they have a frontline of Anderson and Bass, I would rather have Lewis, Anderson and Bass as a trio. Personally I think Arenas is on the decline of his career. And the more I watch Boston the more they scare me, heck they don’t have Perkins completely back to normal, nor do they have Delonte West (a solid contributor off the bench) and Jermaine O’Neal (another active big). I think playoff time they will be scary, especially with homecourt.

I don’t really post in here…though I am a daily reader of this forum. You guys do an excellent job…and even that is an understatement. Congratulations on your anniversary! Here’s to many more!
BTW, I don’t have a rooting interest for anybody, though I will side with the Packers because that is my father-in-law’s team…I just hope it’s a good game.
GO LAKERS!

Happy Anniversary. You are one of the great writers that I follow. On a side note, are the lakers going to play Andrew Bynum against the Griz? Hope Phil seats him out so that the jinx of being injured against the Griz (remember jan. 13, 2008 & jan. 31, 2009) be broken.
