With the Lakers hosting the Warriors in a pretty big game tonight, I thought I’d go old-school with this throwback classic.
The year is 1999. Kurt Rambis and P.J. Carlesimo are coaching. It features a Shaq ejection, a clutch shot by Kobe, and cameos by Mugsy Bogues, John Starks, and Donyell Marshall (and that’s just on the Warriors’ side). Lakers trail by as many as 27 in the 2nd quarter, but still win the game.
Hopefully tonight won’t require such heroics, but will produce the same result.

Glen Rice, what a heck of a sweet shot he had.

Steve nash’s body is breaking down and it looks like hes finished. I’m starting to believe ken was right in saying that the FO made a huge mistake signing nash.

Gary: I have previously been critical of the front office on some items, and have also agreed with Ken with regard a number of things. However, IMO the FO made a good gamble when they signed Nash. Most of us were in favor of it. It appears that it isn’t working out (perhaps that will change), and so yes, in hindsight it may have been a mistake, but there are lots of unknowns and the FO does not have the benefit of hindsight. I do think the 3rd year was a mistake, however if that was the only way to get him, then that is forgivable as well. That said, with regard to some other things, in the words of Vito Corleone: that I do not forgive.

thx darius: three things stand out:
1. 14 years ago, someone named kobe bryant tips in the tying field goal to take the game into overtime. has that look of invincibility. fast forward to present, still has that look.
2. 14 years ago, robert horry takes down a rebound in overtime and without hesitation bombs and makes a 3 pointer to help lakers win. that was a long time ago.
3. the innitable chick hearn. will live on in laker lore forever.
