Nate Duncan, host of the Dunc’d on Podcast at Real GM, was kind enough to have me on as a guest to talk Lakers’ basketball as part of his season preview series. Nate and I discussed Kobe, Byron Scott, the young core of Russell/Randle/Clarkson, and pretty much everything else Lakers’ related you can think of.
You can follow Nate on twitter here (which you should, he’s a great NBA follow — offering really good in-game analysis and, with a background in law, a strong understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreement). Give us a listen, yes? YES.

Your experience as an international diplomat served the podcast well. Congratulations for steering Duncan away from bleating “Not an NBA player” for 1 hour and 37 minutes. “Replacement-level” is far less condescending, more accurate and not as hard on the liver (if you partake in such podcast drinking games).
Unfortunately, you both have kicked the most minute atom of hidden hope out of me that somehow this team will nova this year into the playoffs. Well, that and this team still not having an identity. MWP will have to make the team and pronounce that they’re going 95 and 7 in the regular season to get my delusional optimism firing properly again.

Great stuff, Darius. I really appreciate your insightful and level-headed approach to the team. This was a really worthwhile listen.

Great podcast. Was wondering who nate was going to have on to talk about the lakers… You are VERY diplomatic. As much as I admire Nate, he was a little too down I thought about the possibility of keeping hibbert after this season being an indication of failure.

I bope Hibbert proves valuable enough not to be a one year rental. it’s not like the Lakers have a lot of options in this area. Oh yeah right Upshaw. Let’s not count on him working out.
