Report: 76ers Tell Ben Simmons they will Draft him #1 Overall

June 21, 2016 by Darius Soriano

On Monday we told you that the intrigue surrounding this draft was not very high. Rumors may try to throw us off track, but the more information we get, the more it simply confirms what was originally thought to be. If there was any doubt remaining, though, Tuesday morning Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com is set to erase it.

Haynes is reporting that the 76ers have informed Ben Simmons they will select him with the #1 overall selection:

LeBron James and his agent Rich Paul are still winning.

The Philadelphia 76ers have informed the camp of Ben Simmons that they will select the forward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday, league sources informed cleveland.com.

Paul, of Cleveland-based Klutch Sports, represents Simmons.

Putting together the puzzle pieces, it seems pretty clear that Haynes, who covers the Cavs in Cleveland, has sources inside the camp of Simmons’ agent — the same agent who represents LeBron James.

Simmons worked out for the 76ers on Tuesday morning and after that session posted a picture of himself from the session with the caption “trust the process”.

Well, then.

While I am very high on Simmons, should Philly select him and leave Brandon Ingram for the Lakers, I would be thrilled. Ingram is a best of both worlds prospect, offering a combination of great talent, a high ceiling, and a great fit with the current construction of the team’s roster.

In other words, the Lakers would be lucky to have Ingram fall to them. And with that looking more and more likely, my excitement level is only rising.

    That’s good news.

Now I just hope the front office doesn’t try to do anything dramatic, and simply select the pick that fits our roster.

    Ingram to the Lakers !!

Ben Simmons looks like the second coming of Michael Beasley.

They say that if you don’t know what outcome you prefer, toss a coin. When in the air, you’ll know your preference. For me, it’s Brandon Ingram, so I can’t wait till this gets done.
