Darius joined me on “Locked on Lakers” to discuss how different this Lakers season feels compared to the last couple years. During Wednesday’s game, the thrill of winning wasn’t accompanied by the baggage that came with a Byron Scott-coached team. Watching, it felt like we were witnessing the foundation for future success being laid in ways we simply haven’t seen in the past few seasons.
The second half of the show featured a rapid-fire segment on expectations we might have on the Lakers’ young core. Could D’Angelo Russell generate All Star buzz? How much time should Julius Randle play at center? Why should Lakers fans pay more attention to Brandon Ingram’s steals and blocks than the points he scores this year?
I’m blackmailing Darius into coming on the show regularly throughout this season, so enjoy this and look forward to many more appearances like it. guys: really enjoyed the lovefest, I mean podcast and we laker fans share in your enthusiasm not only for the upcoming laker season but for seasons to come. I see it as having all these gifted children; eager to learn and willing participants. Can’t ask for anything more this early in the season.
One down and 29 to go.
Go Lakers

Tonight is an interesting contrast to the first game. Utah is pretty much the polar opposite to Houston. How do the youngsters handle this radical change in type of play. IMO, Mozgov will play an even bigger part to tonight’s game. Deng may also do better – both because he has a game under the belt and because he can concentrate on the defensive side of the ball and leave the scoring to Russell, Young, and Mozgov.

Makes u wonder about ingram and what he looked like at duke, maybe the talent around him was inefficient, and it downplayed his skills, he’s a team player, if anyone understands me.
Good stuff

Ingram’s ceiling seems pretty high given both his potential on both sides of the ball. It will be fun to watch him and the others develop.
Tonight’s game will be interesting. Utah seems a lot better than Houston defensively. Go Lakers!
