After a few days off at the conclusion of their 4 game road trip, the Lakers are back in action tonight against the Golden State Warriors at Staples Center. So, the Lakers are playing the Warriors, one of the best teams in the league. That’s a big deal, right?
Well, kinda. You’ve probably heard there’s actually something else happening at the game. Yeah, that Kobe Bryant guy is having his number retired — actually, his numbersĀ since both #8 and #24 are going to the rafters. That basically means this game only matters oh so much. Yes, there will be an electricity in the air and the hope is that the Lakers can channel it productively. But otherwise, I’m not really caring too much about this game.
With that, I’m not even going to talk X’s and O’s, strategy, matchups, or anything else. I will relay, though, that the Warriors are seriously banged up with Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Zaza Pachulia, and Shaun Livingston all ruled out for the game. Of course, that’d matter more if they still didn’t have Kevin freaking Durant and Klay Thompson to carry them or a whole flank of role players ready to step up and perform.
But, enough of that. Enjoy the game, folks. It’s a big night for fans. I hope the Lakers can get a win to make it even that much sweeter.
Where you can watch: 7:30pm start time on Spectrum Sportsnet and NBA TV.
