It’s the stretch run of the season and the Lakers continue to show their mettle. Banged up and shorthanded, the team just blasted the Cavaliers on national television in a game that showed again why Julius Randle should be a piece to keep long term and how far the team has come under Luke Walton.
The Lakers remain just outside the playoff race, but that doesn’t mean they’re counting themselves out. Even if all they do is play spoiler, though, they’re taking it to teams with winning records and impacting the standings with every win they grab.
That is the backdrop, then, for friend of the site LD2K’s latest video masterpiece – Laker Wars: The Last Seed.

I’ll say it again, it’s extremely doubtful the Lakers come within even a couple of games of making the playoffs. They’re 6 back in the loss column of the 8th seed with 16 games left. But that fact doesn’t make the feeling they are inspiring in fans down the stretch any less meaningful. This team is playing hard, they’re competing, and they’re FUN.
And, maybe more important than anything else, they’re establishing something that can be built on for future seasons. Whether that’s with this exact same group of young players or with, you know, some reinforcements from the outside. I think LD2K’s video captures all this perfectly. Makes me kind of sad the season is actually going to end soon.
