In this episode of the Laker Film Room Podcast, Pete and I discuss Lonzo Ball’s recent struggles and get into some of the contributing factors for his recent run of poor offensive play. We discuss the current strengths of Lonzo’s game, but also areas where he’s showing a need to improve — specifically related to fundamentals and skill work that can, we hope, but a focus of his off-season development.
From there we discuss the impact of Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart’s extended absences due to injury. We look at some of the lineup and rotation issues their absences have caused, then dive into the individual skill-sets of both players and how that relates to what we’ve been seeing on court from the team.
From there we move onto Kyle Kuzma’s recent play, specifically related to how he’s filled in at small forward while Ingram has been out. We discuss what new wrinkles we’ve seen from Kuzma offensively and tie those back to his position change. We then moved on to how he’s done defensively as a SF and some of the differences he’s had to deal with defending on the wing almost full time and how he’s done in those areas.
