In this episode of the Laker Film Room Podcast, Pete and I build on our conversation from our previous podcast about Frank Vogel to dive into what the Lakers are doing offensively, particularly with Anthony Davis, and what the can be doing to optimize their prized big man even more.
We start our conversation with the Lakers win over the Thunder on Tuesday and what steps were taken early in the game to get Davis going after a couple of games where he was not as involved offensively as he could have been. We dove into some of the X’s and O’s we saw, specifically in the P&R, and how those plays really seemed to get AD the ball in spots where he could be effective.
Later in the pod we get into some of the things we think Vogel and his staff can do to even further optimize AD, especially in two-man game actions with LeBron, in order to capitalize on the gravity both players have on that side of the ball.
Towards the end of our discussion we get into the team’s guard rotation, some of the early returns from Rajon Rondo and what he’s bringing to the team (good and bad). We talk lineups Rondo has been and can be used in, half court vs. transition effectiveness, burden sharing with LeBron, and how Rondo (as well as some of the other guards) can help unlock more layers to the team’s offense in order to take it from being good to great.
Hope you enjoy this discussion as much as Pete and I did. You can listen to the full episode below.
