This site was founded on the premise that all too often the discussion around the Lakers focused on the off-court drama rather than what was happening on the court. Talk radio soundbites were, seemingly, more important than the X’s and O’s and strategy of the games themselves. Kurt Helin wanted something different, and Forum Blue and Gold was his brainchild.
As we sit here today, on April 1, 2020 there are no games. The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has put the NBA on indefinite hiatus with no end in site. The league is in discussions with the players about withholding a percent of salaries, bracing for game revenue that will never be recovered due to contests that never get played.
With that, this site has mostly been…empty. FB&G was birthed to discuss something that, for now at least, no longer exists. Things have gone up, for sure. Some podcasts, an update about two Lakers who tested positive, or how I’m missing the team, but that’s about it.
Here’s the thing, though, I want to talk about basketball again. And, so, I will. And it will start next week. I have some ideas. I hope you will like them. But, I also want to hear yours. What do you want to read? What topics do you want hit? You want play breakdowns? Old school games analyzed? Mailbag questions answered? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll try to get to as many of them as I can.
Take good care, everyone. We’ll see you soon.
